27 April – Aelia Eudoxia the daughter of the Frankish general Flavius Bauto marries the Emperor Arcadius.Her father was the magister militum in the western Roman empire during the 380’s. Aelia is described as a woman of strong character who some believe dominated Arcadius. She is said to have been responsible for the deposition of Eutropius in 399 who was at the time consul and John Chrysostom the Patriarch of Constantinople in 404, the same year that she died.

Aleia and Arcadius had four children, three daughters and a son.
