A drought in Poland has led to the discovery of an aircraft wedged in the mud of a lake about 70km west of the Polish capital Warsaw. The plane is still to be identified but early indications are that it might be a Soviet IL-2. So far the pilots and the engine, a wheel, an instrument panel, and the radio have been found. The plane’s markings and the uniforms of the pilots indicate that the plane is of Soviet origin.
