Project MKUltra was the name given to a series of illegal experiments being conducted on human subjects by the CIA.

The experiments were apparently intended to determine which drugs and procedures could be used to force confessions through mind control.

The CIA’s mind control program ran from the early 1950’s through to 1973 when it was officially ended, during this period research was conducted at more than 80 institutions, including universities and hospitals.

The program has been deemed illegal because of its use of unwitting test subjects whose mental states and brain function was manipulated through the use of drugs, hypnosis, sensory deprivation and abuse.
