2 November

A platoon of 28 Canadian soldiers defend a vital area against an entire battalion of 800 Chinese troops.

The battle killed hundreds of Chinese soldiers, and just one of the Canadian defenders. About half of the Canadians were wounded. The engagement lasted into the early hours of November 3. More than 26,000 Canadians served in the three-year war, and of those, 516 Canadians died in service.
