The Japanese enter Indochina after concluding a long period of negotiation with the Vichy government.

The Japanese aim is to prevent aid reaching the Chinese through Indochina. There are to be 6000 troops stationed in the country and they are to have transit rights. Completely powerless, the Vichy government is forced to acquiesce to every Japanese demand.
