A fourth century BC tomb has been discovered at Pompeii by French archaeologists.
The tomb, which is intact, was built by the Samnites who had fought against the Romans and controlled Pompeii before they did. This find therefore sheds light on the pre-Roman city of Pompeii. An adult woman was buried in the tomb with amphorae from various regions of Italy.

So do I Amy, I particularly like that we are getting a little bit of insight into pre-Roman Pompeii.

Definitely! Wonder if they can ‘drill down’ further below Roman times at other places like Carthage.

Wouldn’t that be something! We really know so little about people like the Carthaginians because, as the old adage says, the victor writes the history.
