Night of 25/26 August 1940 – The Battle of Britain
RAF Bombers attack Berlin for the first time.
In retaliation for the bombs dropped on London the night before, the RAF attacked the capital of the Third Reich. Some 50 bombers were involved and the damage inflicted was very slight. This shocked to the German leadership who claimed that this would never happen.
The repercussions from this event would soon begin to affect German strategy.
